braxton cloutier
Braxton Howard Cloutier is an immigration and trial attorney who currently serves as President of the Barrington Town Council. Braxton moved to Barrington with his husband in 2020, returning to the community where his husband was born and raised. They settled in the Hampden Meadows area with their twin sons, Jacob and Seth, who remain close by.
Before joining the Town Council, Braxton served as the inaugural Chair of Barrington's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. He earned his bachelor's degree from North Carolina A&T State University and his Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law. His career in public service began with AmeriCorps, where he worked with families and immigrant communities in rural North Carolina.
Braxton has always believed in community building through the arts, public service, and the pursuit of justice. As Town Council President, he brings that same commitment to Barrington: listening to residents, working respectfully through complex issues, and helping build a town that is represented, sustainable, fiscally responsible, and thriving for future generations.

My husband Jeff and I have lived in Barrington for seven years with our two children, Beckett and Elliot, who are students at Sowams Elementary. Jeff served in the U.S. Army for twenty years and now proudly serves on Barrington’s Veterans Committee. Like many families, we chose to move to Barrington because of its strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and beautiful sense of community.
I am a lifelong Democrat, a family law attorney, a business owner, a mother, a neighbor, and a veteran’s partner. As a litigator and family law attorney serving families throughout Southern New England, I regularly help individuals navigate complex and deeply personal issues. This work has strengthened my ability to listen carefully, advocate effectively, and approach difficult decisions with preparation, compassion, and resolve.
I have served on several committees throughout my professional and personal life, and I am ready to dedicate my time, energy, and experience to serving our wonderful town. I care deeply about Barrington and would be honored to help preserve and strengthen what makes it such a special place to live, work, and raise our children.
