A recently retired physician, she is an artist, mom of three, wife of a Navy veteran and officer, former Girl Scout leader and soccer coach, board member of an artist cooperative, and long time Puberty Speaker at HMS.

Tim McNamara
Tim McNamara is a long-time Barrington resident of 17 years, a father of two sons who attended the Barrington schools, a partner in a marketing agency, and a coach to many of Barrington’s young athletes.
Tim is running for School Committee to provide common-sense perspective on the issues facing our schools and students, to ensure sound fiscal management of the school budget that balances community needs with the associated burden to taxpayers, and to provide transparency and accountability regarding the decisions and actions of the School Committee.
Professionally, Tim's experience in managing an agency and marketing budgets for large corporations has prepared him for the administrative and fiscal challenges our schools face.
For the past 15 years, Tim has been a coach, program director and board member for Barrington’s soccer, basketball and lacrosse leagues – always with a passion to serve Barrington’s youth. Tim hopes to continue that service as a Barrington School Committee member.

Lisa Nelson
Lisa Nelson, a lawyer by training, has been an education-focused public servant for many years. She led the initiative, Fix Our Schools, that will save Barrington millions of dollars on its school construction, which includes the upcoming projects and the middle school.
Lisa's focus is on balancing 21st-century construction with supporting the behavioral and physical health needs of students and staff. As the Education Policy Advisor to the RI State Senate, she wrote laws improving curriculum, and requiring civics and financial literacy.
Currently, she is with RI Department of Children, Youth and Families where she advocates for initiatives that support all kids and families.
OUR ENDORSEMENT PROCESS
Starting in early spring, we invite all potential candidates for local and statewide office to meet with the full committee and present their experience and goals.
After deliberation among the committee members, voice or ballot votes are taken to choose the candidates we endorse locally, or support at the state level.
The decisions are based largely on the alignment of the candidates with the BDTC platform.
